I'm doing this. I wonder if any chemical will take the chrome off of a key. The plain brass will complement the wood better than chrome.

That's an awesome instructable! I'm planning on building a Stirling engine using similar parts for the collector. If I ever get around to it, I'll post it up here!

It would be interesting to copper plate the key as the patina would be interesting with the wood.
